Museum of Warmia and Mazury
The history of the Warmia Capitol is an abbreviated history of Warmia. This impressive Gothic-style building in the centre of Olsztyn has been the seat of both church and secular power for almost 700 years. However, it has never been a Teutonic castle, a fact that Olsztyn residents clearly emphasise to visitors. Moreover, Olsztyn Castle has successfully resisted Teutonic knights on many occasions! Thanks, in particular, to Nicolaus Copernicus himself, who for several years managed the estates of the Duchy of Olsztyn. It is also true that the castle also repeatedly fell into the hands of Teutonic knights, but this is not an appropriate topic for conversation in Olsztyn...
Now the Warmia and Mazury Museum is located here.
